Webinar -Strengthening Oral Cancer Screening and Early Detection in Practice

Overview In recognition of Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month (July), this webinar will equip oral health professionals with practical knowledge and skills to strengthen the screening, prevention and early detection of oral cancer in clinical settings. The session will explore current trends, evidence on oral cancer risk factors, the role of routine oral cancer screening, recognition of potentially malignant disorders, and effective referral pathways to support timely diagnosis and improved patient outcomes. Participants will also gain strategies for communicating risk and promoting preventive behaviours among diverse patient populations. An additional segment in the end will focus on vaping cessation in dental settings, examining the emerging evidence linking e-cigarette/vape use to oral health risks, including oral cancer, and providing practical approaches for brief interventions and behaviour change support within the oral health scope of practice.
