Theatre workshop led by Lorenzo Volpi Lutteri, Diego Pileggi, Joshua Doerksen - Jubilo Foundation 14/15 November 2025, Towarzystwo Kultury Czynnej, Paulinska 4/8 - Wrocław 16 November, MiserArt, ul Cybulskiego 35A - Wrocław This weekend workshop will thoroughly examine the Chorus, the foundational element of the Greek tragedy, in a wide range of directions. Text, action, music as a part of a whole. Our primary focus will be on the dynamic interaction between the individual voice and the vocal ensemble within this context. Participants will explore chorality (the unified voice of the group) and polyphony (the interaction of multiple individual voices), drawing particular insight from traditions such as the sacred polyphonies from Corsica, through specialized vocal exercises. Emphasis will be placed on cultivating deep listening skills to facilitate harmony and collective resonance across both singing and speech. The practical component will involve the deconstruction of texts and songs, analyzing how individual vocal contributions merge to achieve a unified, nuanced, and powerful collective expression. The primary objective is to enhance participants' awareness of collaborative vocal performance dynamics, reflecting the functions of the classic Choros in a contemporary key. During the workshop we will work on songs from the Corsican polyphonic tradition. The workshops organised by Jubilo are an opportunity to meet performers and people interested in the company's work, with the aim of broadening the fruition of the work and involving new people in the creative process. PROGRAMME - Friday 14 November - Towarzystwo Kultury Czynnej Hours: 16.00. - 22.00 (with a short break). The room will be available to participants for personal warm-up from 15.30. - Saturday 15 November - Towarzystwo Kultury Czynnej Hours: 11.00. - 18.00 (with lunch break). The room will be available to participants for personal warm-up from 10.30. - Sunday 16 November - MiserArt Hours: 11.00. - 18.00 (with lunch break). The room will be available to participants for personal warm-up from 10.30. COST: 180 euros per participant (750 Zlotych). Payment must be made by bank transfer and is non-refundable. The bank transfer receipt will be requested to confirm registration for the workshop. Reimbursement of expenses will only be made in the event of cancellation of the workshop. LANGUAGE: the workshop will be held in English with the possibility of translation into Polish and Italian. Diego Pileggi - actor, director. Founder and artistic director of Fundacja Jubilo. He holds an MA in Acting from Manchester Metropolitan University (2011) and a BA in Communication Sciences from the University of Milan (2007). He deepened his training by meeting masters of the calibre of Song of the Goat Theatre, Eugenio Barba, Marcello Magni, Compagnia Abbondanza/Bertoni, Danio Manfredini, Roberta Carreri, Iben Nagel Rasmussen, Chiara Michelini. His approach is rooted in physical theatre and the theatrical process, with a specific interest in body/voice techniques and the psychophysical training of the actor. He specialises in the study of traditional polyphonic singing, mainly from the Mediterranean area (Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily). From 2012 to 2022 he is a collaborator of the Grotowski Institute in Wroclaw as the artistic director of Jubilo Foundation. He has collaborated with theatrical institutions and academies in Italy and abroad, including the Grotowski Institute, Teatr Polski, AST - National Academy of Dramatic Arts (PL), Tehran University of Dramatic Arts (IRN), National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Oslo (NO), IULM University (Milan). Lorenzo Volpi Lutteri - Actor and director graduated from the Piccolo Teatro school in Milan, he has been involved in theatre, dance-theatre, and the study of stage physicality and vocal expression for the past twenty years. His training was influenced by encounters with some of the greatest European theatre and dance masters, such as Giorgio Strehler, Luca Ronconi, Peter Brook, and Carolyn Carlson, as well as by the guidance of Enrico D'Amato, Bruce Myers, Yoshi Oida, Marise Flach, Michele Abbondanza, Antonella Bertoni, and Iva Formigoni, among others. His theoretical and practical studies were based on the classical principles of European theatre pedagogy (and in particular on the teachings of Jacques Copeau, Bertolt Brecht, Orazio Costa). As an actor, he has participated in national productions directed by, among others, Strehler (Elvira, or the theatrical passion; Cosi fan tutte), Luca Ronconi (Infinities; Quel che sapeva Maisie, with Mariangela Melato; Le Rane), Roberto Guicciardini (Edipo Re), and Abbondanza/Bertoni (Polis). Recent works include Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot and Aeschylus's Prometheus, both directed by Christian Poggioni, and Jubilo's production Wingless, which he directed. Joshua Doerksen (Canada), actor. He graduated from Vancouver University with a degree in Acting, followed by an MA Acting diploma from Song of the Goat Theatre in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University (2007). She collaborated with Studio Matejka during the company's first six months of operation. Conducted and assisted theatre workshops in Poland and abroad, including workshops for children and women in Bosnia, workshops with disabled youth and children of Roma origin. One of the founders of the artistic group Odra Ensemble. Founding member of Fundacja Jubilo. Jubilo Foundation - Jubilo is a theatre company founded in 2011 in Wrocław, driven by the need for artistic intervention as a protest against cultural exclusion. Jubilo aims to extinguish social, economic, linguistic and cultural barriers through artistic encounters in which the platform of exchange is the language of theatre and music. Jubilo collaborates with many arts and theatre organisations internationally, including the Grotowski Institute of which it has been a permanent collaborating company since 2013. For many years, the company has been conducting, in collaboration with the Grotowski Institute, the "Unlocking" project for inmates in the closed and semi-open departments of the prisons in Wroclaw and Swidnica (PL).
