Do zobaczenia! 💚 Biogram naszej gościni: Hi, I'm Mia Takula, Finnish author, documentarist, journalist and animal rights activist. I was born in Ostrobothnia, which is the Finnish concentration of fur farming and pork production. We moved to countryside of Southern Finland when I was a child. While living there, at the age of 15, I founded the first Finnish organization that also advocated animal rights, called SPAY, which after a while was active in three different cities. At that time there were only conservative, anthropocentric animal protection organizations in Finland, which only advocated minor changes to the conditions of animals and which I did not feel were sufficient to change the position of animals in our society. In 1995 together with two friends, I founded the first Finnish organization focused solely on animal rights, called Oikeutta eläimille. The organization still exists. I have also been active in the human rights and nature conservation movement both in Finland and abroad. However, I am most recognizable in Finland for the release of foxes from four fur farms in Ostrobothnia in 1995. The releases were widely reported abroad as well. Since then I have worked in the art and media field for almost 30 years. My main themes are animal rights, the intrinsic value of nature, the eco-crisis and humanity. I have made among other things non-fiction books, TV documentaries, radio programmes, audio works and hundreds of newspaper articles. My works include eg. a non-fiction book about wolves and wolf territories "Susien mailla" and a radio program about the communication and languages of non-human animals.
