Join us for a scorpion scavenger hunt! Bring an ultraviolet flashlight (Black light) and join us in searching for scorpions along the trail in this evening hike! After a brief overview of scorpions and how to look for them with a UV flashlight, participants will join our rangers in hiking along Lost Creek Nature Trail (Approximately 1 mile). Things You Should Know: Meet: Group Pavilion Parking lot Bring: Comfortable walking/hiking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, a red light headlamp/flashlight, and a UV flashlight. Cost: Attendance to this event is open to the public and free AFTER regular day use or camping fees. Park admission is free with a Texas State Park Pass (purchased before the event) If ADA assistance is required, please request modifications at: https://tpwd.texas.gov/about/accessibility or email the accessibility team at least 30 days in advance. Established in Nov. 1867, the fort is named in honor of Gen. Israel B. Richardson, who died in the Battle of Antietam. The fort was the northernmost of Federal Forts established after the Civil War.
