Ever wondered if you would have survived the Oregon Trail? Most didn't… but today, you get the chance to find out! Join our rangers for a fun Pack-a-Wagon game as you battle floods, tornadoes, and other obstacles to test your survival skills. All ages welcome! Things You Should Know: Meet: Interpretive Building Bring: Water and your best survival skills Cost: Attendance to this event is open to the public and free AFTER regular day use or camping fees. Park admission is free with a Texas State Park Pass (purchased before the event).

Established in Nov. 1867, the fort is named in honor of Gen. Israel B. Richardson, who died in the Battle of Antietam. The fort was the northernmost of Federal Forts established after the Civil War.
