Opis

The Ghetto Fighters' House invites you to a special online program marking the 80th anniversary of the Kielce Pogrom. July 4, 1946. One year after the Holocaust. In Kielce, Poland, 42 Jewish survivors were murdered by their Polish neighbours in what became known as the Kielce Pogrom. For many surviving Polish Jews, this pivotal event marked the end of any hope that Jewish life could be rebuilt in the land their families had called home for centuries. Join us for a conversation with Prof. Dr. Joanna Tokarska-Bakir, author of Cursed: A Social Portrait of the Kielce Pogrom; Ms. Agnieszka Majewska, granddaughter of a Polish policeman who rescued Jews during the pogrom; and Mr. Andrzej Ćwiek, a citizen of Kielce whose work with students and visitors, reflects a commitment to confronting the city's painful past with honesty and responsibility. Together, they will explore how historical truth is uncovered, remembered, and sometimes resisted - and why the legacy of the Kielce Pogrom still matters eighty years later. Conceived and led by Lorenn Peer, Museum Educator, GFH and Head of Testimony Collection for Kfar Aza and Kibbutz Erez, "Edut 710" Archive. Thursday, July 2nd, 2026 , 2:30 PM (EDT)
