Ladies and Gentlemen, The Center for American Studies (scientific society conducting primarily scientific activity in an independent and continuous manner) is honored to invite you to take part in the 9th International Conference "American Law, Politics, Philosophy & Economics: Theoretical Reflections & Contemporary Challenges". ➡️WHEN? The conference will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. online on the Microsoft Teams platform. The length of the conference depends on the exact number of speakers. In the event of a high number of speakers, we reserve the right to extend the conference also to Sunday, July 26, 2026. ➡️THEMES OF THE CONFERENCE The goal of the conference is to discuss American law, politics, philosophy & economics through an interdisciplinary prism. The conference aims to create a space for reflection on the theoretical and practical aspects of the American political-economic model and its global consequences. Participants will have the opportunity to present their research findings, analyze existing literature, and discuss current challenges in the contemporary world. Main topics of the conference: • American Law, e.g., evolution of the legal system, state and federal laws, U.S. Supreme Court jurisprudence. • Politics, e.g., American political system, elections and democracy, domestic and international policy. • Philosophy, e.g., American philosophy, ideas underlying American political thought, ethical and philosophical issues in politics and law. • Economics, e.g., American capitalism, economic policy, challenges to the global economic position of the USA. • History - U.S. legal, political, philosophical and economic history. The committee of the conference encourages using scholarly achievements of various strains of law, philosophy, sociology, political science, economics, cultural studies, and other disciplines during your presentation. Proposed (sample) thematic areas of your conference presentation: • Civil rights and individual freedoms in the American system • Equality, human rights, and political ethics in American discourse • Federalism and relations between states and the federal government • American business law and market regulations • Immigration law and its evolution • The U.S. political system: democracy, political parties, and the electoral process • U.S. foreign policy: global challenges and strategies • U.S. domestic policy: debates on social reforms • The influence of media and technology on contemporary U.S. politics • The U.S. and international organizations: role in NATO, the UN, and other institutions • Midterms election in the U.S. • Inequalities in American society • Roscoe Pound's dispute with the realists (K.N. Llewellyn and J. Frank) • Law in action and critics of the law in books • American theories of justice and other legal theories (John Rawls, Robert Nozick, Ronald Dworkin, etc.) • Political philosophy and theory (social democracy, libertarianism, anarchism, republicanism, liberalism, etc.) in the American context • Legal, political, and economic thought of the Founding Fathers (Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison, Washington, Franklin, Adams, Paine, among others) • Totalitarian doctrines in the United States (fascism, communism, nazism, etc.) • Doctrines of racial segregationism • Federalism and anti-federalism in the USA • The character and corollaries of the New Deal program • Reagonomics • Pax Americana • Common law and private means of resolving disputes and bringing to justice (eg in the context of mediation) • Basics and assumptions of the common law system • Creating and functioning of precedents in the U.S. • ADR trend and its impact on thinking about the judiciary • Position of the American judge in the field of shaping civic attitudes and building a legal culture • American institutionalism within economic sciences from the 1920s and 1930s (T. Veblen, J.R. Commons, W. Mitchell) • Institutional Law & Economics theory • The public choice theory • The New Haven School • The role of the United States in the Bretton Woods system • U.S. dollar as a sociopolitical institution; • Political economy of the Federal Reserve System; • American theories of economic development (R. Solow, H. Chenery, etc.) • Influence of the COVID-19 crisis on the American society and Economy • Analytic legal and political philosophy in the American context And many more! The thematic areas indicated above are only exemplary. We strongly encourage you to go beyond them. In addition, the speeches may be interdisciplinary, combining various fields of science (but they do NOT have to be interdisciplinary, i.e., you may present a topic on only law or only economics). We believe in academic freedom and do not censor speakers. Original presentations will always gain interest from the Conference Committee. ➡️WHO IS IT FOR? • Students, Ph.D. students, experienced researchers, and all others interested in the above-indicated fields of research can actively participate in the Conference as speakers. • Passive participants (audience) do not need to possess any prior academic knowledge or background. ➡️LANGUAGES OF THE CONFERENCE Presentations may be delivered in the following languages: • English • Polish Panels (sessions) during the Conference will be arranged accordingly. ➡️CONFERENCE COMMITTEE • Prof. Christopher Kelley, LL.M. (President of the Center for American Studies) - Secretary of the Committee. ➡️ACTIVE AND PASSIVE PARTICIPATION - INFORMATION ➤ ACTIVE PARTICIPATION (INFORMATION FOR CONFERENCE SPEAKERS) Steps necessary to register for the conference as an active participant (conference speaker): 1️⃣ Submit an abstract (200-300 words) and register via the Speaker Application Form at: https://forms.gle/FMbHBQpfBP4XR8dv8 2️⃣ Register using the above-mentioned form by 23.59 on July 14, 2026 (we will not extend this deadline). 🔒We reserve the right to select abstracts. 📣The results of the abstract selection process will be announced by July 15, 2026. 3️⃣ Pay the conference fee to the bank account number that will be provided to the qualified speakers via email. The fee must be paid by July 17, 2026 at the latest. ➤ PASSIVE PARTICIPATION (CONFERENCE AUDIENCE) Steps necessary to register for the conference by a passive participant (audience): 1️⃣ Register via the Audience Registration Form at: https://forms.gle/MtL7fKEU3yyaXxey6 2️⃣ Register using the above-mentioned Audience Registration Form by 23.59 on July 18, 2026 (we will not extend this deadline). Failure to register using the form will result in the inability to passively participate in the conference (and thus the inability to receive a conference audience certificate). 3️⃣ Pay the audience fee to the bank account number that will be provided to the audience via email. The fee must be paid by July 20, 2026, at the latest. Audience will have a chance to see the conference schedule before paying the fee. The schedule with a full list of speakers and their presentation titles will be delivered via email. ➡️PARTICIPATION FEES ➤ SPEAKERS - 2 options: • 239 PLN / 65 EUR - participation as a speaker + PDF electronic certificate sent via email (the electronic certificate bears the digital signatures of the members of the Conference Committee and the qualified Szafir electronic signature - the legal equivalent of a handwritten signature - of the President of the Board). - OR - • 269 PLN / 75 EUR - participation as a speaker + digital certificate + traditional certificate with a handwritten signature sent via post. ➤ AUDIENCE - 2 options: • 139 PLN / 45 EUR - audience participation + PDF electronic certificate sent via email (the electronic certificate bears the digital signatures of the members of the Conference Committee and the qualified Szafir electronic signature - the legal equivalent of a handwritten signature - of the President of the Board). - OR - • 169 PLN / 50 EUR - audience participation + digital PDF certificate + traditional certificate with a handwritten signature sent via post. Important! Please use the following pattern when filling in the transfer title field when making the payment of your conference fee*: "<first name and last name> - fee for active / passive participation (select the appropriate one) - <AMERICAN LPPE Academic Conference>" * Failure to do so may result in delays in posting the fee on the appropriate account and, consequently, even exclude your participation in the conference. In the case of a co-authorship of a presentation by two or more speakers, please pay the fee for each of the co-speakers separately. ➡️POST-CONFERENCE PUBLICATION The organizers anticipate the possibility of publication in the form of a monograph. However, such possibility will depend on the number of authors willing to publish their text (chapter) in a monograph. The price for participation in the conference does not include the publication fee. ➡️FAQ • It is possible to receive a VAT invoice (please request it in the registration form - requests made later may not be satisified). • If your participation in the conference is to be financed by the university (institution/company), we suggest that you pay for your participation from your personal funds and then obtain reimbursement from the university (institution/company) on the basis of an invoice issued by the Center to your university (institution/company). • The fee is non-refundable (since it grants you the right of entry to the conference). • The link to the online conference room will be made available to registered participants within 24 hours before the start of the conference. • It is possible to deliver a conference presentation by two or more speakers (the fee should be multiplied by the number of speakers). • The presentation time is 15-25 minutes (depending on the fact of giving a solo or duet presentation and the total number of presentations during the conference). • Certificates are usually sent via traditional post within 2 months after the conference - because of approaching scholarship deadlines we will do our best to deliver them faster. • Digital certificates are sent to *all* participants within one week from the conference. • Every participant will receive an affidavit confirming the composition of the Academic Committee of the conference. • All Participants will receive a certificate of the status of the Center for American Studies scientific society as an entity conducting primarily scientific activities in an independent and continuous manner, along with a full list of members of the Academic Council. • The Center for American Studies arranges the order of presentations.
