Opis
The exhibition by Przemysław Wojtaś, "20 Works After the Academy," develops a cycle of paintings created twenty years ago during the artist's studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. The exhibition was presented in early 2026 at the Ursynów Cultural Centre "Alternatywy." The project consists of twenty paintings executed using minimal formal means: a single brush, a screwdriver, and phthalocyanine paint. Each work is produced on a pre-existing drawing that is disrupted, cut into, and covered with successive layers of paint. This process is based on irreversible decisions by the artist and functions as a conscious creative act that is simultaneously destructive and non-reversible. "20 Works After the Academy" does not reconstruct the past but functions as a tribute to a period in which no boundaries existed and the only imperative was to paint above all else, everywhere and on everything. Alongside the paintings, an audiovisual installation and a video projection will be presented as integral elements of the exhibition's structure.
